Quite marks the beginning of my Epitome of Five series and was my first painting at this scale. I set myself the challenge of completing it within a week, and that time frame pushed me to work with more instinct and energy. The painting explores the balance between realism and abstraction through expressive portraiture. I became fascinated by how the semi-transparent clothing could interact with the skin beneath, finding it both difficult and rewarding to capture the right tones and sense of depth. This piece marked a turning point in my practice as I moved away from traditional realism and began experimenting more freely with abstract colour and movement. It was an exciting and playful process that opened a new direction in my work.
