Where Shape Takes Over

White Apple

White Apple is a hand sculpted clay piece based on my own hand holding an apple. I built the form by observing the position of my fingers and the way the apple sits within the palm. What interested me most was how the apple appears to be suspended, supported only by the subtle tension of the fingers around it.

I painted the sculpture entirely white to remove any distractions and place full emphasis on the form. Without colour, the piece becomes a study of shape, weight and the quiet balance between the hand and the object it holds.

The Seven

This work consists of seven small clay sculptures, each representing one of the universal emotions recognised across all cultures. Every form and colour was created through instinct and intuition rather than planning. By allowing each emotion to guide the shape directly, the sculptures became physical responses to feeling rather than literal symbols.

The piece served as the starting point for my later exploration of how emotions appear in art and design. It introduced the idea that emotion can be communicated through form, colour and gesture without the need for figurative imagery. These sculptures became an early foundation for the larger emotional themes that continue through my practice.
