Burn Out

This second painting in Epitome of Five continues my exploration of control and attention within portraiture. The work focuses on the contrast between precision and freedom, using sharp detail in the face and hand to draw the viewer inward while allowing the background to fragment into vibrant abstraction. The expressive marks and layered colours suggest tension between exhaustion and creativity, capturing a moment suspended between focus and release. Through this painting, I aimed to reflect the emotional complexity of self-reflection, where clarity and chaos coexist. It represents a stage in the series where control becomes both a tool and a challenge, shaping how presence and vulnerability are portrayed.
