This fourth painting in Epitome of Five marks a significant change in tone within the series. I wanted to create a darker, more emotional piece while still working with colour, exploring how light and tone could contrast to express depth and feeling. By removing almost all background detail, the figure emerges from the darkness with quiet intensity, allowing subtle hues to hold emotional weight. The softer palette and layered shadows gave the work a sense of vulnerability, shifting the focus from energy to introspection. Through this painting, I explored how colour can exist within darkness and how restraint can evoke as much emotion as expression.
