This fifth and final painting in Epitome of Five brings together the key elements explored throughout the series. I aimed to balance structure and abstraction, creating a portrait that felt both grounded and fluid. The detailed rendering of the face and hair contrasts with the looser treatment of the clothing, where brushwork and texture take precedence over form. This contrast allowed me to explore the tension between control and release, a theme that has run through the entire series. The colours and movement carry a sense of resolution, as if the painting itself is settling into stillness after a period of exploration. It felt like a fitting conclusion, uniting precision, expression, and intuition into one final statement.
