Fishy Business explores the decline of traditional fish and chip shops in the UK and their cultural significance.
Once central to communities, many chippies are now struggling under economic pressure, shifting consumer habits, and competition from global chains. The project uses the chippy as a metaphor for the wider shift towards privatisation and big food corporations.
The work combines photography, film, painting, and installation. It includes large-scale portraits, behind-the-scenes photography, interview films, paintings, custom newspapers, and an immersive installation that recreates the atmosphere of the chippy.
Through this mix of visual storytelling and design, Fishy Business sparks conversation around heritage, identity, and the changing shape of British culture.
