This project explores how emotion influences the way we experience art, and how colour, texture and form can be used to express different emotional states. I focused on seven core emotions: anger, contempt, disgust, fear, happiness, sadness and surprise. Each is represented through a separate artwork that aims to make the viewer feel rather than simply observe. I used contrasting materials, abstract shapes and carefully chosen colours to reflect the unique qualities of each emotion. The project is grounded in both psychological research and artistic experimentation, looking at how emotion has been portrayed across time and cultures. The result is an installation that invites reflection, along with a zine that documents the process, the history of emotion in art, and the decisions behind each piece. This work helped me understand how emotion can be a powerful tool in both making and viewing art, and how design can shape emotional connection.
